Sarasota remains a top choice for living in the U.S., according to the latest rankings from U.S. News & World Report, released on Tuesday.
This year, Sarasota earned the No. 11 spot on the annual Best Places to Live in the U.S. list. It stands as the second-highest-ranked city in Florida, just behind Naples, which claimed the No. 1 position.
The rankings are based on four key indexes: Quality of Life, Value, Job Market, and Desirability. U.S. News & World Report compiled this data from various reputable sources including the U.S. Census Bureau, FBI, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Sharecare, FEMA, NOAA, and additional internal resources.
Sarasota is familiar with such recognition, having ranked No. 5 in last year’s report. The city’s vibrant arts scene, stunning beaches, and growing food culture were highlighted by U.S. News & World Report. Local attractions such as the Sarasota Opera House and Siesta Key were noted as standout features.
In addition to being a great place to live, Sarasota also ranked No. 18 on the Best Places to Retire list, making it the third-highest Florida city in this category after Daytona Beach (No. 8) and Tampa (No. 12). Previously, Sarasota was ranked No. 11, after holding the top spot in the 2022 rankings that praised it as an “ideal retirement community.”
