Shore to Close Sarasota Location, Tommy Bahama to Take Over

Longtime St. Armands Circle staple, Shore, is closing its Sarasota location on December 1 due to ongoing flooding and infrastructure challenges following this year’s hurricanes. The retail shop and upstairs restaurant, open since 2008 and 2012 respectively, will be leased to Tommy Bahama, which plans to open a combined restaurant, bar, and retail space at 465 John Ringling Blvd. in February 2025.

Shore’s owners cited aging infrastructure and slow recovery efforts as factors in their decision to leave but remain open to returning to Sarasota in the future. Their other locations in Longboat Key and Disney Springs will stay open, with plans to expand elsewhere on Florida’s west coast.

Tommy Bahama, whose restaurant at 300 John Ringling Blvd. suffered severe hurricane damage, will reunite its dining and retail operations under one roof at the new location. The existing retail store at 371 St. Armands Circle will remain open until the new space launches.
