Southside Village Welcomes Lucky 8 Luncheonette with Classic New Orleans Flavors

After nearly a decade as executive chef at Veronica Fish and Oyster, chef Mark Majorie is opening his own spot in Sarasota’s Southside Village. Lucky 8 Luncheonette, located at 1812 S. Osprey Ave., is set to launch this month, blending casual eats with a New Orleans twist, inspired by Majorie’s time as chef de cuisine at The Roosevelt New Orleans.

Partnering with Edward Zaki, owner of 1592 Wood Fired Kitchen and Adeline, Lucky 8 will focus on New Orleans classics like po’ boys, muffulettas, smash burgers, red beans and rice, and gumbo. With a 60-seat setup, including an outdoor patio, Lucky 8 will capture the charm of New Orleans through decor and a mural by local artist Chase Fenner.

Lucky 8 will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., serving beer and wine (no liquor) in a casual, sandwich shop atmosphere.
